What do you consider to be your main area of expertise?
Architecture and systems management, troubleshooting and identifying system problems. Working with other developers to identify which parts of the system (or their code :o) ) need attention.

What is the most interesting customisation that you have done or seen in PeopleSoft?
Writing the Application Engines for the Highways Agency Upgrade to convert their data from 7.5 to 8.8. I hadn't seen 8.8 in any detail before the project and it taught me so much about the structure of the HRMS tables and data that I had previously only known in a cursory way.

Also I really enjoyed designing and creating an LDAP interface for LVMH using a wide range of PeopleSoft integration tools. This was a quick and simple customisation that happened to use Application Engine, Business Interlink, Component Interface and PeopleCode functions.

What is the best thing that you have done for a customer?
Probably my biggest project to date has been the design and implementation of the infrastructure at Ernst & Young. I designed the different environments required for the upgrade cycle, specification for the hardware and have been involved in all stages of the server implementation.

What project have you most enjoyed working on and why?
Tesco's as there was a big team from Congruent and the local curry house was fantastic! The project was run by PeopleSoft and was a multi-lingual implementation. The mix of PeopleSoft and Congruent people made the working environment great fun and the evenings were just as good. It was a good example of a large project with all sorts of complications made workable because of the people involved.

The recent Highways Agency upgrade project was great fun as well. It was my first time doing a major Data Conversion and has taught me all sorts of things! I was there in a developer capacity which is a change from my previous roles of architect/admin but after jumping in at the deep-end I found I could swim better than I thought!

What originally drew you to consulting or the computing field?
I've always had an interest in computing and IT. I like to know how and why things work the way they do. I really enjoy exploring new technology and I am always looking for ways to get the most from hardware and software. I'm not content to sit doing just one thing for a long period of time without working out ways of improving it.

Why did you join Congruent?
Corporate answer: I saw Congruent as a company that was small enough for everyone to know everybody, and yet was dynamic enough to go places. So far I haven't been disappointed. Translation: Quite simply, I love working with these guys and gals. With the right team you can do anything.
